WHAT IS TONSILIITIS?

Tonsils are lymphoid tissues present in the throat. Tonsils provide immunity to the body by acting as filters for bacteria and viruses from entering the body. 

Infection of the tonsils is called tonsillitis. It is common in children and may often get infected. It can be viral or bacterial.

Throat pain

Fever

Difficulty in Swallowing

Earache

Bad breath

Neck swelling and pain

not commonly but some patients may need Throat swabs or Blood tests such as CBC, CRP etc for diagnosis

Acute cases need Medical management with antibiotics , painkillers and gargles. 

Chronic patients may need Tonsillectomy
